About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support the financial operations of the organisation. This role plays a key part in financial accounting, management accounting, audit support, and finance operations. The successful candidate will assist with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and analysis to support informed decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy, Governance & Risk Management
- Apply organisational financial policies, controls, delegations, and treasury directives
- Support financial analysis, forecasting, modelling, and commercial evaluations
- Assist with budgeting decisions and assess financial and compliance risks
- Perform basic economic and financial appraisals
- Prepare and post journals, maintain ledgers, and perform account reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and regulatory submissions
- Interpret financial data, performance reports, and accounting standards (AAS)
- Support tax returns, audits, and statutory compliance requirements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Extract, analyse, and interpret financial and operational data
- Monitor and report on budget performance
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to understand financial needs
- Support internal and external audits, including compliance and substantive testing
- Assist auditors with audit findings, objectives, and risk assessments
- Identify opportunities for process and control improvements
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately
- Operate financial systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Prepare standard financial reports and maintain system controls
- Identify opportunities to improve financial system performance
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate finance experience (construction or engineering industry experience preferred)
- Experience with month-end project financial analysis and reconciliations
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Australian Accounting Standards
- Proficiency in accounting and financial reporting systems
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Must be an Australian Citizen
- Degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline
