The Role
This is a hands-on role for a qualified Mechanic or Mechanical Fitter with at least three years post-trade experience. You’ll split your time between the workshop and field, providing mechanical maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on complex equipment. The position involves interpreting technical drawings, fault finding, and working to precise standards. This is an opportunity to deepen your expertise while contributing to high-impact projects across a range of industries.
 
Responsibilities

  • Carrying out mechanical assembly, maintenance, and repairs on complex rotating machinery and components
  • Conducting inspections, diagnostics, and fault finding on mechanical systems
  • Interpreting technical drawings and documentation to ensure accurate work
  • Working to tight tolerances and quality standards
  • Supporting workshop operations and contributing to a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
  • Collaborating with engineering and technical teams to solve problems and improve processes
 
Requirements
  • A recognised mechanical trade qualification (Cert III or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy mechanical or precision fitting environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service documentation
  • Willingness to work out of hours and weekends as required
  • Availability to travel overseas for specialist training during the first year
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with a professional and team-oriented approach
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
