About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an Industrial Controlling Electrician to join the Reliability & Maintenance team at their manufacturing site in Ballarat.
Reporting to the Reliability Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the site’s reliability and maintenance objectives by delivering safe, efficient, and proactive electrical maintenance across plant assets. The position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment uptime and operational performance through preventative and corrective maintenance, advanced fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will work across industrial electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA platforms, and motor control systems, while collaborating with production, quality, and maintenance teams to optimise plant reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and Program Electrical and Control Systems including PLCs, SCADA platforms, motor control systems, and industrial sensors.
  • Perform Preventative and Corrective Maintenance across electrical systems and plant equipment to maintain uptime and reliability.
  • Diagnose and Troubleshoot Electrical and Control Systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Support Reliability and Asset Care Initiatives, including predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and reliability-centred maintenance practices.
  • Maintain Accurate Maintenance Records in the CMMS system (MEX) to support asset lifecycle management and planning.
  • Ensure Compliance with Electrical Safety and Regulatory Standards, maintaining licences, training, and safe work practices.
  • Support Continuous Improvement and Automation Upgrades to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Provide Technical Guidance and Training to operators and maintenance teams to build capability and reduce recurring faults.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical capability in industrial electrical systems and automation within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Licences

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30820) or a tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
  • A Grade Electrical Licence (VIC)
  • Valid Victorian driver’s licence
  • White Card (desirable)
  • Additional certifications such as EWP, Working at Heights, Forklift, Confined Space, First Aid or Fire Warden (desirable)
Experience & Technical Capability
  • Proven experience in industrial electrical maintenance within high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Strong capability in PLC programming, SCADA systems, motor control systems, and industrial automation
  • Experience diagnosing faults using automation and SCADA data
  • Proficiency in preventative and corrective maintenance practices and CMMS systems (ideally MEX)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Understanding of food manufacturing standards including GMP and HACCP
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
