We are partnering exclusively with a highly regarded national professional services organisation to appoint a People & Culture Advisor to their Melbourne team.
Supporting approximately 180 employees, this is a true generalist opportunity where you will become the dedicated People & Culture presence for the Melbourne studio, working closely with approximately 10–12 Directors, the broader leadership group and the Head of People & Culture.
This isn't a role where everything is already perfectly built for you. There are manual processes, systems to improve and an opportunity for someone to come in, understand the business and help shape what P&C looks like moving forward.
The Role:
The position is approximately 60% advisory and 40% operational, so you will need to enjoy both sides of HR. You'll have the autonomy to advise and coach leaders while still being comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in the day-to-day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with and coaching Directors, Associates and leaders across people matters
- Building leadership capability and helping managers navigate people conversations
- Providing advice across employee relations, performance, conduct and grievances
- Managing recruitment, onboarding, inductions and employee lifecycle processes
- Running probation and performance review cycles
- Supporting workforce and resource planning
- Driving culture, engagement and wellbeing initiatives
- Supporting remuneration reviews and employee benefits
- Managing employee records, reporting and people data
- Working with Power BI dashboards and identifying trends across the workforce
- Supporting policy, process and systems improvements
- Contributing to WHS, psychosocial safety and Return-to-Work activities
- Having the opportunity to contribute to broader national P&C projects depending on your interests and development goals
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is confident in their HR knowledge but equally strong when it comes to people.
You will ideally bring:
- Strong generalist HR/P&C experience at Advisor or Senior Advisor level
- Experience partnering with and coaching managers and senior leaders
- Good knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Modern Awards
- Hands-on employee relations and performance management experience
- Experience across the broader employee lifecycle
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The confidence to provide advice while also knowing when to seek support
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Strong systems, reporting and data capability
- The ability to work within an environment where some processes are still manual
- Experience within professional services, creative, design or another relationship-driven environment would be advantageous, but industry experience is not essential
Why You'll Love It
This is a genuinely exciting time to join the organisation. There is significant change happening across the broader business, including the development of its organisational strategy and changes to how the business operates and makes decisions. For the right person, there will be opportunities to contribute to some of these broader initiatives and take ownership of projects beyond the Melbourne studio.
You'll also benefit from:
- Genuine autonomy and ownership of P&C for Melbourne
- Direct exposure to senior leaders and Directors
- Support and regular one-on-ones with an experienced Head of People & Culture
- Opportunities to become involved in national P&C projects
- The ability to shape your role around areas of HR you want to develop further
- A social, down-to-earth and collaborative working environment
- Long employee tenure, with the Melbourne averaging approximately seven years
- One regular work-from-home day per week once established in the role, with some additional flexibility where required
- A business that wants someone to come in, understand what is working and then bring ideas around what P&C could do better
If you're looking for a People & Culture role where you can have a voice, work closely with leadership and genuinely influence how the people function continues to develop, we'd love to hear from you.
