About the Role
We are exclusively partnered with one of our key clients as they look to secure an experienced Transport Manager
to lead the daily operations of a busy transport division. The successful applicant will manage fleet scheduling, compliance, driver supervision, subcontractor coordination, and weighbridge oversight to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of materials.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting into the Head of Operations, you will be tasked with the following:
- Manage daily truck scheduling, routing, and resource allocation.
- Lead a small team of drivers and weighbridge operators, overseeing performance and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to NHVR, PBS, Chain of Responsibility, and Fatigue Management regulations.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance planning, repairs, and operational readiness.
- Maintain compliance with WHSE policies and safety protocols.
- Manage subcontractor drivers and external job assignments when required.
- Monitor operational costs and implement improvements to reduce spend.
- Conduct weighbridge operations as needed to ensure service continuity.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align transport priorities with business needs.
- Provide reporting to senior management and contribute to strategic fleet decisions.
About You:
To be considered for the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- 3+ years’ experience in transport, fleet, or logistics management.
- HC licence
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing drivers or operational staff.
- Understanding of relevant transport legislation and safety requirements.
- Budget management and operational planning experience.
- Solid communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Cert III/IV in Transport or equivalent experience (desirable).
- Manual driver’s licence (essential);
- Safety-first mindset with a proactive approach to team development.
