Why I Do More Than Just Find You A Job

Why I do more than just find you a job: Service with the works!

The role of a recruitment consultant has changed immensely over the years. We are no longer simply a middle man for companies to fill a vacant position. Companies have more diverse needs and place more importance on the recruitment process than ever before.

Recruiters need to recognise this need and increase their service offering, adding value so companies can lean on our extensive capabilities.

I mean why go to a stock-standard car wash when you can now go to a car wash yard, have your car washed with an upgraded carpet shampoo thrown in, while you get a free coffee and a half price muffin?

To create a reputable and memorable recruitment agency not to mention a unique service offering, it's vital we recruiters build long-term relationships that benefit both the recruiter and the job seeker.

That being said, even with this expectation now placed upon us recruiters, it is still obvious that not all consultants are created equal.

Here's why I go above and beyond as a recruiter…

'More than just recruitment' Philosophy

Every recruiter should offer candidates a real experience. When you pride yourself on offering a more personal touch, you open the door for building a trust that is sadly lacking among some recruiter-candidate interactions.

My goal?

To create powerful long-term relationships. Not only do I strive for this, I achieve it.

Maintaining relationships is not difficult if you are committed to the fundamentals of it. Providing adequate support, making yourself available and treating candidates as people rather than merely placements, is at the forefront of my philosophy.

Personal relationships we make throughout our lives all have one thing in common.

A connection.

Consultants who exceed average expectations will maintain this connection with candidates.

By focusing on the candidate as more than an appointment, I gain valuable insight into who they are as people. People with real lives, real families and real hopes for the future.

These positive relationships can often carry over into life outside of work.

I myself have become involved with many of my candidates' personal lives. I've attended weddings, subsequent baby showers and received countless party invitations.

Why? Simply because I bring more than just a professional capacity to the lives of those who I work with.

Follow up is intrinsic in my everyday dealings. It intrigues me to know how my candidates are moving along in their new roles. Taking an interest in their experiences is part of what makes a great recruiter.

Your success is also mine.

The Buck Doesn't Stop At 'You're Hired'

For many, candidate placements are often a one-off transaction.

I don't limit myself to simply placing candidates in a role, never to be seen or heard from again. Support throughout the placement process is standard and expected, but I provide ongoing support long after the role has been filled.

I won't forget what your priorities are both professionally and personally.

I believe that you can have it all.

After all, happier people make happier employees and seeing you happier, makes me happier too.

The Whole Nine

A great consultant knows the lines of communication should always be open, especially beyond the point of placement.

Invite placements to interact on a regular basis, not only if any issues arise but also simply for the chance to touch base. The avenues available for social interaction these days leave no excuse.

Those who truly recognise the value in relationships understand the benefit in extending themselves beyond being merely a contractual vehicle for an employer.

It goes without saying the trust that you create in the initial stages will be only strengthened in the coming weeks and months.

Recognition of an opportunity to create a lasting impression, and building a trust that is unique to this industry is something I live by.

From strangers to rewarding relationships that can escalate careers, open doors and some even turn into solid friendships.

Think about it, as a jobseeker who would you rather work with? A recruiter who just does his job to fill a placement? Or a recruiter who you enjoy talking to, who understands your needs and wants, who touches base with you beyond placement helping you achieve your bigger picture career aspirations?
